Development
SCORA generally monitors development in the area that involve significant property size that can significantly impact the general character of the neighbourhood, as well as applications trying to change zoning that may set precedence for future development. The ones being monitored currently are listed in the side panel. Click for details.

The town of Oakville periodically contacts Residents Associations for input to assist them in setting policies and by-laws on issues that impact development in the town generally. We issue position papers on these as we see fit based on feedback from our members. Some of these are listed as well on the side panel. We welcome your input on these issues as they come forward.
One advantage of having a residents association is that it is a voice that is readily recognized by town council and staff and welcomed to the table. They much prefer to deal with an organization that can speak with one voice than a mass of individuals. Obviously the association cannot always be in concert with all individuals views, but we try to represent the majority viewpoint and what is best for the area generally.
“There comes a point when the consequences of development outreach the benefits to the community.”
SCORA strives to ensure development is in keeping with the character of the existing community as per the
town’s commitment in its new official plan - Livable Oakville.
